FUSED GLASS
Fused glass work first requires the hand-cutting of intricate glass designs and then  firing the glass in electric kilns reaching temperatures around 1400 degrees.   Much fused glass is fired in a way that results in a smooth, flat surface.  FUSED GLASS FROM ELLINWOOD STUDIOS IS UNIQUE in that a special firing process is used to create a TEXTURAL SURFACE, similar to relief sculpture. (see detail image)
